A: These products are not veterinary therapeutic foods, and thus are not specifically designed to help manage health conditions. Healthy pets with sensitive digestive systems may benefit from a highly digestible food. These foods are also formulated with high levels of omega-6 fatty acids and Vitamin E to help support skin and coat health.
A: To be labeled ‘complete & balanced’ the food must meet the nutrient requirements set by AAFCO's Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for a specific life stage (e.g., Growth, Adult Maintenance, etc.). Our rolls have been formulated for Adult Maintenance, ensuring they contain all of the nutrients that the adult dog needs and are present in the appropriate amounts and ratios.
A: This food is complete and balanced for adult maintenance so it can be fed as the sole source of nutrition. Many pet parents use fresh food as a mix-in or as a topper so we have recommendations for those scenarios.
A: The food is conveniently ready to eat from the fridge. Our feeding trials have shown that dogs enjoy eating the rolls right from the fridge. We do not recommend heating this food in the microwave as this can cause hot spots, creating a potential burn risk for a dog.
A: These foods are not considered therapeutic veterinary diets and do not have the same nutritional profiles as our therapeutic dermatology/food sensitivity recipes (or other Prescription Diet recipes). Mixing other foods with Prescription Diet formulas diminishes and compromises the efficacy of the food. We do not recommend mixing these foods with a Prescription Diet recipe.
A: Yes, this food is complete and balanced for healthy, adult dogs and can be mixed with dry and wet food. When feeding this food for the first time, it is important to slowly transition your pet to the new food.
● Step 1: Determine the daily intake quantity for your pet through our feeding guide recommendations. These amounts are a starting point only and should be adjusted to maintain proper weight.
● Step 2: Determine how you want to feed the food and calculate the total intake needs and the quantity of each food needed
● Step 3: Follow feeding transition instructions for either sole source nutrition (100% of calories), mix-in (50% of calories), topper (30% of calories), or treat (10%)
A: Steaming at targeted temperatures for controlled amounts of time results in a fully cooked roll and effectively eliminates harmful pathogens that might be present in raw ingredients. The gentle cooking process ensures that the food is safe for dogs and reduces the risk of foodborne illnesses while maintaining freshness.
After steaming, all rolls are then cooled and chilled, never frozen, to retain maximum freshness. Frozen rolls may experience texture changes due to cell separation and ice crystal formation. Our approach is to serve them fresh from the fridge. This ensures that you and the pet receive the best in terms of aesthetics, texture and flavor.
A: Our carefully selected high-quality ingredients are locally and globally sourced. The ingredients are intentionally selected for their nutritional and functional benefits to the unique formulation. All of our suppliers must meet our strict requirements for nutrient and quality specifications through a rigorous screening process.
A: Each formula is held to rigorous internal standards to ensure safety, quality and consistency for optimal nutrition you can trust. The manufacturing facility is inspected by the FDA to ensure it meets the federal standards for quality and safety.
A: WSAVA publishes guidelines for pet parents to help them select pet foods. https://wsava.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Selecting-a-pet-food-for-your-pet-updated-2021_WSAVA-Global-Nutrition-Toolkit.pdf We comply with these as a standard way of working and we have approved answers to all of them if a pet parent/vet inquires about them. Our high standards are consistent across all of our pet food forms.
